I was perpetually having those moments. Now I just have a gigantic list of brilliant ideas to bring to completion. Not sure which is worse.

Maybe those creative ideas are like dreams. The ones that are so vivid and memorable that we just KNOW, even at 2:30 a.m., that there’s no way we’ll ever forget. Maybe running and sleeping are similar in that conscious ‘thinking’ is pushed aside by something better or at least different. Of course, some seemingly brilliant ideas later sound vaguely similar to those that came while listening to Blind Faith late at night in college years ago.

I do know that thinking about a problem or a concern often can make the run (or long walk) miserable, i.e., thinking becomes worrying. But, occasionally, a nugget of wisdom pops through. Write it down, like you should do with good dreams. Quickly. My written lists, however, are mainly a semi-successful attempt to clear out clutter, e.g., laundry, grocery store, leaky faucet, oil change. Doesn’t always work. Write it down, and it’s halfway done, right? Wrong. But write it down anyway.

You never know when or where on the journey you can use it. But we drift into running as a metaphor for life, and that’s always dicey. By the way, I had an even better response that I composed while running today – brilliant, even – but, alas, I waited to write it down until just now….

You know, I'm not as angry about my superfeet these days. I decided to give them a chance, and they're not so bad I guess. Give me another month, and I'll re-review them.

Aw, I'm sorry they didn't work out for you! I swore by the green Superfeet until I really messed myself up in boot camp and ended up having to get the custom made orthotics.

I always rip through "The Celery Stalks At Midnight" before a big conference call. Bunnicula gives me the strength to show those corporate sluts who's boss.
